Ladybug Picnic Birthday Party

We had a birthday celebration for Annabelle recently. Everyone had a great time and we had fun decorating. I thought I would share some of my ideas with you.
Welcome sign- Red wrapping paper for the back, polka dot wrapping paper for the bugs circles cut in half, circles with antennae for the heads, green leaf was drawn then traced onto green paper and cut.

Ants in the kitchen. Glue three circles together, some wiggly eyes, and pipe cleaner for the legs and smile.
Ladybug toss game- Staple paper plates together with beans inside to make a shaker. Then cut out a large red circle for the ladybug body and glue on the plate. Draw the head, antenna, legs, and spots with a marker.  They are hard to see but there are fabric leaves that they are trying to land the ladybug onto. I just traced a leaf pattern onto a pair of old green pants then cut them out.

All the kids got a ladybug hat when they arrived. Cut red paper in half lengthwise then glue one side together. Cut large black circle, cut in half. Glue onto the middle of paper, add wiggly eyes, and hot glue white rope. Hole punch 2 holes for antennae. Curl  one black pipe cleaner stick through the holes and twist once. Add heart stickers and stamp spots with stamp.

Menu- Corndog muffins (cornbread muffins with a hot dog inside), sliced apples (wash, slice, soak in water 3-5 minutes then in 7-up for 3-5 minutes to prevent browning), tortilla chips and dip, chili and fruit salad.

Drinks- I made the kids mason jars with lids to prevent spills.

Watch the video when we light her amazing cake.

Ladybug cake- 9 inch circle cake in a spring-form pan, bake, then remove the sides. trim out the head shape and use 2 cans of red and 1 can of black spray frosting with the flower tip. Sparklers for antennae and flower candle.

Ladybug "hot potato" game- Pass around a ladybug toy with music. When the music stops the person holding the ladybug says one thing they like about Annabelle. Until everyone had a turn.

Musical Chairs- We didn't have enough time for this one but we were going to play musical chairs with the green leaves.

Party favors- The kids kept the ladybug hat, one ladybug shaker from the game and a toy bug net filled with candy.

Kids and adults all had a great time at the party. Especially the birthday girl.
